DOG DAY CONFESSIONS
Trust is a thing with a bark and a bite—
That howls down the moon,
And roams an ancient landscape,
And sees with keen insight.
And follows through gale—
And eagerly sidles up to friends of mine,
That thread of understanding,
That builds belief in each other.
I've dreamt it in my brightest joy—
And on my darkest day,
Yet, nothing prepared me for an eternal shadow
Who never asks a smidgeon of me.
